Within the framework of the “Power of Tomorrow” Development Program, the STP Group of Companies has launched a new project titled “Elegant Engineers”, aimed at supporting the development of young women engineers. The project will be implemented in cooperation with the Education Development Fund. The main objective of the project is to support the education of female students from low‑income families who are studying in various technical specializations and demonstrating strong academic performance, as well as to facilitate their professional development as qualified specialists. Starting from August, 50 selected participants will take part in specialized training and development programs conducted by experts from the production units of the STP Group of Companies. In addition, throughout the project period, which will continue until the end of the academic year, participants will have the opportunity to receive a special STP Group of Companies scholarship.
Speaking at the presentation of the project, Chief Executive Officer of the STP Group of Companies, Hijran Valehov, emphasized the importance of developing young professionals: “The development of young professionals is one of the key priorities for the STP Group of Companies. Over the past year, the “Power of Tomorrow” Development Program has trained 50 young specialists, most of whom are currently working both at the STP Group of Companies and in other organizations. As a continuation of this successful initiative, we are launching a new project today.”
The event was also attended by Bahar Muradova, Chairperson of the State Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan on Family, Women and Children’s Affairs. In her speech, she noted: “Today, gender equality is one of the most widely discussed topics in society. When we look at engineering professionals in the industrial sector, it becomes clear that women’s interest in this field remains relatively low. Long‑standing stereotypes undoubtedly play a role in this. I am confident that this project will be a successful initiative aimed at breaking these stereotypes and demonstrating new opportunities for women’s personal and professional development.”
Another guest of the event, Member of Parliament Nigar Arpadarai, congratulated the organizers on the implementation of this important initiative for workforce development in the industrial sector: “In addition to promoting gender equality, such projects are extremely beneficial for society in terms of developing young professionals and shaping qualified specialists in the field. As you know, the most successful investment is investment in education.”
In his closing remarks, Elnur Nasibov, Chairman of the Management Board of the Education Development Fund, noted that to date, with the support of partner organizations, the Fund has provided scholarships to 180 women. He highlighted that the distinctive feature of the “Elegant Engineers” project is that, in addition to scholarships, participants will receive mentorship support and take part in training programs. Emphasizing that the main goal of education is to prepare professionals in line with labor market demands, he stated that this project, as a successful example of public‑private partnership, serves precisely this purpose.
